Bulky Waste Pickup - By Appointment

Do you have bulky waste?​

Residents in our service area receive: 

  • One bulky waste pickup ​appointment ​for five cubic yards of acceptable items every 12 months is included in the standard level of residential curbside collection service​​. (Note: the 12-month period starts on the date the service is used, not on a January–December calendar year.)​

  • Pile size is limited to five cubic yards, or a pile 8' x 4' x 4', which is about the size of a pickup truck bed loaded to the top of the cab

  • Piles larger than five cubic yards will be charged additional fees​ - maximum pile size is 15 cubic yards

  • Additional bulky waste pickups may be scheduled during the year and will be charged at current rates for up to five cubic yards of acceptable items. Setting out more than five cubic yards will be charged at current rates​​

Acceptable Items:

  • Bulky household material too large for Garbage cart (furniture, mattresses, etc.)
  • The following must not exceed four inches in diameter and five feet in length: 
    • Pipes, Lumber, Tree/shrub trimmings​​ 
  • ​*For proper recycling, the following items must be placed to the side of your pile:
    • *Appliances (for child safety, remove or securely tape/tie large appliance​ doors closed) - must be empty, no trash/debris
      • Import​​ant! When scheduling, indicate if you will have any appliances. A different truck collects appliances on your appointment day.
    • *E-waste (TVs, computer monitors, mobile phones, etc.) - put smaller devices together in a cardboard box
    • *Fluorescent tubes (four feet in length or less) 
    • *Tires (no rims; maximum of five) 

Items NOT Accepted:

  • Commercial waste
  • Concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, tree stumps or heavy objects (auto bodies, engines, etc.)
  • Glass panes/mirrors (including shower doors, etc.) or hot ashes/coals/fireworks
  • Household Hazardous Waste - R​esidents may drop-off for no charge at local household hazardous waste facilities
    • Batteries (​vehicle, household, etc.) - home improvement/grocery stores may also accept household batteries
    • Chemicals, oil, paint, propane tanks, etc.
  • Household material that is accepted in curbside collection Garbage, Organics and Recycling carts
  • Liquids
  • Treated wood waste (including fence posts, railroad ties, guardrails, pilings, and decking)

Note - additional steps for items that have a combination of acceptable and unacceptable materials. For example, before setting out these items, be sure to properly drain and recycle fluids or batteries 

For Other Disposal Options:

Kiefer Landfill accepts household waste from the public, businesses, and private waste haulers. The landfill also accepts some recyclable material, some household hazardous (special) waste, and hard to handle items​.

​​North Area Recovery Station (NARS) accepts household waste from the public, businesses, and private waste haulers. This facility also accepts some recyclable materials, a full range of household hazardous (special) waste, and some hard to handle items.

​​Requirements for Service:

  • Place items out no more than 24 hours before your scheduled pickup.
  • Place in front of your property line on same side of street, and one foot from curb or edge of pavement on a flat, hard surface.
  • Do not put pile under utility lines or tree limbs.
  • Do not block sidewalk, traffic or gutters.
  • Keep pile six feet from obstacles, including fences, mailboxes, vehicles, basketball hoops, etc.
  • Any appliances, e-waste, fluorescent tubes, or tires must be indicated when scheduling, and these items must be set to the side of your bulky waste pile for proper recycling*
    • ​​NOTE: Appliances must be empty of trash/debris and are collected by a different truck on your appointment day.

The Bulky Waste Pickup Services is by appointment only. Before scheduling, review the Bulky Waste Pickup Notice (Spanish​). Appointments may fill quickly. Schedule a Bulky Waste Pickup appointment in one of three ways:

Important: To add special set-out items (appliances, e-waste, tires, fluorescent tubes) to an appointment or to cancel/reschedule an appointment, you must call Customer Service and speak to a representative at least one day prior to your appointment to change, cancel or reschedule. Emails and voicemails are not accepted.​
